The name means something. So does the beer.
Colon the Caterpillar is Turtle Head’s gluten-free pale ale, named to raise awareness of bowel cancer — a cause that sits at the heart of everything we do through The Orange Foundation. The beer is a 3.8% session ale and tastes just as you’d hope.
The malt bill starts with Maris Otter, a classic British pale malt that gives a biscuity, slightly nutty base. Crystal malt adds a bit of sweetness and body. Mosaic and Cascade hops bring citrus, a hint of tropical fruit, and a fresh hop aroma that gives the beer its character without adding too much bitterness.
This is an easy pint to choose. Low enough in alcohol to drink across an evening, with enough hop interest to keep you coming back from the first glass to the last.
Certified gluten-free and suitable for vegans. A portion of every sale goes directly to The Orange Foundation, supporting people affected by cancer.
Best served cold. Good with lighter food like grilled chicken, fish, or a decent sandwich.
The best Yorkshire malt, water, and Yakima Valley hops combine to produce an easy-drinking, low-ABV session beer.
