A gluten-free blonde ale that does exactly what it says.
Smooth is Turtle Head’s gluten-free blonde ale — a 4.3% beer that sits nicely between a lager and a pale ale. Light in colour, easy to drink, and has hops chosen for aroma rather than bitterness. It’s the kind of beer that works for almost any occasion.
The malt base uses Maris Otter and Crystal barley, giving the beer a rounded body and a gentle biscuity sweetness without making it heavy. Three types of hops shape the flavour: Northdown adds a clean, slightly herbal bitterness in the background, First Gold brings a soft floral and citrus note, and Celeia, a Slovenian variety, gives a delicate spicy edge that lifts the aroma and keeps the beer interesting.
The result is crisp, subtle, and very drinkable. Smooth earns its name.
Certified gluten-free and suitable for vegans. A portion of every sale goes to The Orange Foundation, supporting people affected by cancer.
Best served cold. A good all-rounder with food and works well with fish, salads, or lighter dishes, but honestly fine on its own.
