Turtle Head Brewing Company partners with Cumbrian Everest endurance event

A beer company established to raise funds for a cancer charity has agreed to sponsor a mountainous endurance challenge in the Lake District.

Turtle Head Brewing Company (THBC), based in Lancashire, will be Apex Everest’s beer partner for this year’s endurance event challenge.

The beer company, established to support The Orange Foundation – a charity providing practical aid to those living with cancer – will support this year’s event, which will see 200 participants complete nine 12km loops of Helvellyn, reaching the summit nine times, which equates to the height of Everest.

THBC’s managing director, Imogen-Rose Gregory, said: “We decided to partner with APEX Everest as my mum was a competitive fell runner and as part of a Bob Graham Round she did in 2010, she ran along the Helvellyn ridge. My brother Oliver will be taking part in this year’s challenge to raise funds for the charity, too.”

The beer company was established after a family visit to a pub with her brother and father. The trio discussed how to raise funds for the Orange Foundation, a charity they established in memory of Emma Aindow-Gregory, which provides practical support to people living with cancer.

The objective is for Turtle Head Brewing Company to donate 50 per cent of its profits to the family charity, The Orange Foundation.

Adam Clayton, managing director of APEX Everest, added: “It’s great to have Turtle Head along for the journey and to be one of our partners. Our team loves the purpose, and the humour, behind the company and when I learned about Imogen’s and Oliver’s mum Emma and what she had achieved, I felt we could do a bit more and wanted The Orange Foundation to be our charity partner too – we want to help tell its story and raise funds to support people living with cancer.”
